What’s the deal with Vanessa Hudgens and naked pictures?
The second nude photo scandal of the Disney princess has surfaced and her attorney worked quickly to squelch the issue. The first Vanessa Hudgens photo scandal occured in 2007, and took the Internet by storm. Now a second set of pictures has re-surfaced. This time her lawyers says the second set of pictures actually happened before the first ones were released.
“The photographs that surfaced on various Internet sites … were old photos taken by Ms. Hudgens years ago within her home,” said lawyer, Christopher Wong to ABCnews.com. “She was a minor at the time.”
Whoops! A minor? That was enough to make webmasters delete the photos as quickly as they surfaced. There is no quicker way to ruin a good time than to cry “child porn.”
But one thing is certain. The lawyer’s statement confirms that the girl in the photos is indeed Vanessa Hudgens.
This begs the question: Why does this girl take naked pictures of herself? Clearly she’s known as a role model for young girls and is considered to have a squeaky clean image.
When Vanessa was first hassled about nude photos, she told fans: “embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos.”
Could be. But we’ve also been hearing about how Vanessa Hudgens wants to break from Disney.
“It definitely is a love-hate thing, you know,” Hudgens said. “Disney is incredible. And ‘High School Musical’ did wonders and I could not be more thankful. But at the same time, people see me as my character, Gabriella. And I’m just excited to kind of branch out of that and have people see me in a new light.”
Perhaps seeing her naked is part of a plan to see her in a “new light” that would help her break free from the tyranny of Mickey Mouse.
We can look at this situation in two distinct ways. Releasing naked photos of herself to the Internet is a calculated move designed to change her image. Or, she’s a mindless slut who loves taking pictures of herself naked and then is lax about digital security.
Either possibility exists and each one is equally disturbing. If she intentionally leaks the photos herself, it shows a callous disregard for her fans.
If she’s just a mindless slut, that proves just as disturbing to her millions of worldwide fans who look up to her for dating Zac Efron and starring in High School Musical.
Either way, Vanessa Hudgens remains in the news in less than a positive light. Will it hurt her career? Photo or sex scandals rarely do. The pictures that have been released of her are mild nudes, nothing too dramatic. People tend to forgive and forget incidents like this. But for the millions of parents in the world trying to raise young ladies, these types of pictures just reinforce a negative message.
Once you’ve snapped a naked pic of yourself and put it out on the Internet, it’s there forever. You can’t erase what you’ve already done. For someone like Vanessa Hudgens, this might not be a big deal. But for millions of other girls worldwide, such a move could prove devastating.
I think it’s time Vanessa Hudgens came clean on exactly why these photos were taken, and just why they have found their way on to the world wide web twice now.
If she has a reasonable explanation, we can all move on.

I had always taken more of a liking to Ashley Tisdale in the HSM series, villainous sequence and all. For whatever reason, Vanessa Hudgens just rubbed me the wrong way all along. Definitely poor judgement on her part to have even engaged in such conduct. Her fans are mostly minors. If she really wanted to distance herself from the disney image, this just might do it. I hope she’s cut out for this new direction, because whether or not people continue to hold these incidents against her, she can never recover the image she once had, one which brought her much success.
