“I’m happy with where I am now,” Jen said recently. “I feel very hopeful.”

Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston were spotted in public at Cliff’s Edge in Silver Lake, California on September 9.

“They came in early and sat in the corner of the patio,” said Pierre Casanova, who manages the restaurant. “Everyone in the restaurant was watching Gerard and Jennifer. The two of them seemed to get along really well together, just like normal people.”

This wasn’t only sighting of the mega-star lovebirds. Two nights later they partied together at Jennfier’s home. The night started with Aniston having dinner with her friends Sheryl Crow and Laura Dern. Gerard Butler, 39, showed up later with two bottles of Krug champagne.

“They had a great time together. She thinks he’s a gentleman and really romantic,” said an insider. “They’re still taking things slow. They don’t want to rush into anything and mess it all up.”

Gerard Butler, who is well known as a skirt-chaser, first met Jennifer Aniston at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. He spent a bit of time wooing her, but the relationship didn’t get off the ground until Jen was dumped by Bradley Cooper.

“Jen was down in the dumps one day,” a friend explained. “She was in New York, away from all her friends and family, and felt really lonely. Gerard could tell she was hurting, so he came over to her hotel room with a bottle of wine and Chinese takeout. They spent the whole night talking, and it made Jen feel so much better – and a lot closer to Gerard.”

From that day on, Jen started to look at Gerard as more than just a hot hookup.

“She developed real feelings for him. Everyone on set noticed an immediate change — they became more touchy feely.”

Aniston is planning on not working until 2010. That should give her and Butler plenty of time to see if there relationship is meant to be.

“We have to get to know our partner and work through a relationship,” said Jennifer. “It doesn’t just happen by itself. I’m still a romantic….I believe in that.”

Not only that, but maybe, just maybe, she and Butler can one day have a baby together.

“Jen even joked to him that they’d make beautiful babies,” said an insider. “Gerard just laughed but her point was made.”

If things don’t work out to be that serious, then Aniston can just add Butler to the long list of celebrities she’s dated.
